Poet Ruth Mandel Visits Edmonton Friday April 2nd through Tuesday April 6th
Toronto poet, Ruth Mandel, visits Edmonton for several readings from her powerful first book "How to Tell Your Children About the Holocaust".
Ms. Mandel is a child of a Holocaust survivor and a strong female voice from the "second generation". With a written introduction by world-renowned historian, Sir Martin Gilbert, the book is a beautiful and unusual collection of poetry, colour photographs and original personal documents. Emotion and wit mark a very modern journey into the legacy of the Holocaust within a family, and within a world where acts of caring and acts of persecution persist.
Ms. Mandel will be reading at Audrey's Books, Friday April 2nd, 7:30 pm, followed by a discussion with the audience. Audrey's Books is located at 10702 Jasper Avenue at the corner of 107th Street. For more information, please call Audrey's Books at (780) 423-3487.
Special readings for students of MacEwan College are scheduled on Monday April 5, 2:00 pm, Room 440 at the Centre For The Arts Campus and Tuesday April 6, 9:30 am, Room 6-238 at the City Centre Campus. Others interested in attending should contact Ms. Edwards at (780) 497-5356.
These readings are made possible in part by The Canada Council for the Arts and The League of Canadian Poets.
